Cannabis Review: Sensi Star by Supreme via CannMart

Just Under A Year Since Packaged

Sensi Star was ordered from CannMart, a 3rd party medical provider of licensed produced cannabis in Canada and the flower was grown by the people over in Kincardine, Ontario at 7ACRES which is owned by the Supreme Cannabis Company and branded as Supreme on CannMart’s website.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

The label on the container showed a value of 23.677% THC and 0.06% CBD.

Limonene was the leading dominant terpene with a value of 0.1539%. Pinene (0.0598%) and Myrcene (0.0470%) were noted as well.

Price, Shipping and Pack Dates

I purchased 3.55 grams from CannMart at the cost of $4.20 per gram plus taxes during the Cyber Monday sales week . The cost of shipping was free with Canada Post since my order was over $100, otherwise it would’ve been $9 flat.

The package date on the container was noted January 24 2019 and was ordered on November 29. I opened the package and began reviewing this on December 20th, which means the product was packaged for 331 days.

Smell and Appearance

While this cannabis was ten months old by the time I got my order, and then opening it just under a month later it still retained an aroma. Wasn’t quite as strong as a fresher batch but the earthy and lime scent was there.

Moisture content wasn’t too bad, I used the provided Boveda humidity pack that came with my order. The buds were dense and quality was close to what my order would be with OCS. Trichome heads seem to be zipped off upon closer magnification in the photo below, however the rest was still there and plenty were noticed.

Consumption and Taste

Using the Mighty vaporizer with the capsule doses I used about 0.25 grams of flower and found 175 to 185 Celsius (347 to 365 Fahrenheit) the best temperature to use for about seven minutes. Higher temperatures yielded denser vapour but shorter sessions of around five minutes. Tasted just like it smelled, earthy and lime. At 185C (365F) a minty taste was apparent.

I rolled a gram joint to see how it burned and found grey ash on the lighter side was produced, smoke being smooth to inhale and didn’t require any relighting. I still preferred to use this in the vape.

Subjective Effects

One session using 0.25 grams was perfect for me, pain relief was great and the same creative dreamy feel I had with my previous review of Sensi Star. Having back to back sessions (0.5 grams) made me feel sleepy so I preferred this at night when dosing as such. Overall effects lasted 90 to 120 minutes.

Final Thoughts

At first I wasn’t too impressed with the date on the container but tried to keep an open mind. The aromas weren’t as pungent as the one I got from the OCS which was 70 days in packaging, but the cost was also more than half here. I’d say this was worth $4.20 a gram and a great way to move older product out the door.

Cannabis Review: Hindu Skunk by CannMart

Not Even Worth $4.20 A Gram

Hindu Skunk was an experience I will never forget. I purchased this from CannMart’s medical website, which is a licensed producer out in Ontario and also acts as a 3rd party provider of licensed produced cannabis in Canada. This is currently no longer offered on CannMart’s website but I felt it was necessary to review.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

The label on the container showed a value of 14.726% THC and 0.0215% CBD.

Based on the CannMart website the terpene profile displayed caryophyllene as the leading dominant terpene with a value of 0.248%. Not too far behind was myrcene with 0.172%, and small amounts of limonene (0.055%), b-Pinene (0.014%), a-Pinene (0.007%) and a tiny amount of linalool (0.002%) was present.

Price, Shipping and Pack Dates

I purchased 5 grams from CannMart at the cost of $4.20 per gram plus taxes during the Cyber Monday sales week that was on their website. The cost of shipping was free with Canada Post since my order was over $100, otherwise it would’ve been $9 flat.

The package date on the container was noted October 4th 2018 and was ordered on November 29th 2019. I began reviewing this on December 12th 2019, which means the product was packaged for 435 days before being opened. A new record in my books!

Smell and Appearance

Upon opening the container I noticed a light musky chlorine smell. The buds were extremely dry and required the use of the provided Boveda pack.

Bag appeal was low with this one and had a large stem randomly inside with no flower attached. Light greens and some leaves were present on the large 3.2 gram bud. The rest was a gram and 0.8 grams of shake/stem. While not noticeable with the naked eye, under five times magnification I did notice some sort of webbing or possible mold as advised by the cannabis community. This would explain the effects I had mentioned below.

Consumption and Taste

Using the Mighty vaporizer with the dosing capsules holding about 0.25 grams of cannabis, I found the effective temperature of 170 to 185 Celsius (338 to 365 Fahrenheit) for about six to seven minutes.

I didn’t consume this in joint form due to the effects I dealt with.

Subjective Effects

After my initial session with Hindu Skunk I began to feel nauseous and figured it was something I ate earlier that day. I had a couple more sessions throughout the day and the effect got worse. I couldn’t vape or smoke any cannabis for a week as the nausea was so bad.

After taking detailed photos as pictured above I noticed webbing or possible mold on the buds. This was only noticed with the macro lens and not visible with the naked eye.

Final Thoughts

While I had my doubts about a steal of a deal at $4.20 a gram I tried to keep an open mind. Currently there’s no word on expiration dates on cannabis due to the lack of stability studies, and I wonder if the issue was because it was in the container for so long or a grow gone wrong. I’m happy to see it’s no longer available on the CannMart medical website, but from now on I will take all types of pictures before consuming any bud again. Macros tend to be more time consuming but better to be safe than sorry.

Cannabis Review: Compassion Lime by Weed Me via PureSinse

Bubble Gum and Lime

This cannabis flower is from Weed Me, a company out in Pickering, Ontario. They claim to have unique genetics and grow premium quality cannabis. I ordered this from PureSinse which is a 3rd party medical provider of licensed produced cannabis in Canada.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

The label on the container showed a value of 4.8% THC and 8.8% CBD.

Caryophyllene and myrcene were the main dominant terpenes and both had a value of 0.11%. Linalool (0.06%) and Bisabolol (0.05%) were present as well with lower values. Many others were noted on the PureSinse website with a value below 0.05%. The overall terpene content here was quite low.

Price, Shipping and Pack Dates

I purchased 3.5 grams from PureSinse at the cost of $12.50 per gram plus taxes. The cost of shipping was free with Canada Post since my order was over $100, otherwise it would’ve been $9.49 for the cheapest shipping option.

The package date on the container was noted June 10th 2019 and was ordered on October 28. I began reviewing this on December 3rd 2019, which means the product was packaged for 177 days before being opened.

Smell and Appearance

A faint smell of lime was noticed after opening the container. Very dry buds were observed and I had to use a humidity pack at my expense to put some moisture back into them, after a few days things seemed to stabilize and seem a bit better.

The buds were in between dense and airy in terms of density. Light greens and visible orange pistils were noticed with the naked eye. Under magnification the trichomes looked decent, but more on the amber side. Possibly explains why sedation was stronger than expected.

Consumption and Taste

I began vaporizing at 170 Celsius (338 Fahrenheit) and with each individual session I go up 5 degrees celsius. The best range I found was 170C to 185C (338 to 365 F) using about 0.25 grams of cannabis in each capsule with the Mighty vaporizer for about eight minutes.

Overall taste was a sweet bubble gum with hints of lime and tasted really nice.

I didn’t consume this one in joint form.

Subjective Effects

My preference was generally staying above 180C (356F) since CBD begins to boil at this temperature. While the THC amount is just under five percent I did feel a bit tired, and mostly relaxed and enjoyed the nice upper body head high.

Double sessions were needed for the best pain relief. Duration of effects lasted around 90 minutes and found using this at night was ideal, however it was okay to use during the day if only one session was happening.

Final Thoughts

This was an enjoyable experience and I really liked the taste while vaping, but I wouldn’t buy it again as the cost was high and found cheaper alternatives that worked better for pain relief. This may work better for people new to cannabis or those who don’t want a strong effect, but expect to buy a humidity pack to revive it a bit.

Cannabis Review: Mango Haze by Thrive via PureSinse

Great Daytime CBD Choice, One Slight Negative. Cost.

This cannabis flower is from Thrive, a company out in Ontario who is owned by TerraFarma. They claim to be growing premium quality as a small-batch craft cannabis company. I ordered this from PureSinse which is a 3rd party provider of licensed produced cannabis in Canada.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

The label on the container showed a value of 6.66% THC and 11.68% CBD. This would be considered a high CBD variety.

Listing four of the top terpenes noted from the PureSinse website I was able to find that myrcene had a value of 0.77% and was the leading dominant terpene. Generally varieties of cannabis with a value higher than 0.5% myrcene is considered an “indica” type and usually has noticeable sedative effects. Other terpenes listed were ocimene 0.14%, caryophyllene 0.14% and linalool 0.10%. Many others were listed but had a value lower than 0.10%.

The package date on the container was noted May 9th 2019 and was ordered on October 28. I began reviewing this on November 20, which means the product was packaged for 206 days before being opened.

Smell and Appearance

Even though the packaged age of this cannabis was seven months there was still noticeable aroma of fruits and earth.

The moisture content was good and didn’t require the need of a humidity pack before consuming. Bright greens, lots of orange pistils and a heavy trichome count was easily noticed under five times magnification. There were a few 0.5 gram buds, and the rest were around a quarter gram or less.

Consumption and Taste

I used my Mighty vaporizer in the temperature range of 170 to 180 Celsius (338F to 356F) for about eight minutes using 0.25 grams of cannabis per session. Higher temperatures up to 190C (374F) were okay, sessions only lasted about six minutes using the same amount of flower. The taste was the same as it smelled, fruity and earthy.

I didn’t bother trying this in joint form.

Subjective Effects

CBD varieties dull the spaced out high feeling and the same applies here. I did feel focused and relaxed though, with the ability to go about my day and function. Pain relief in my joints was fairly mild and required two sessions to work well. The duration of effects seemed to last 60 to 90 minutes and would recommend this for the daytime, despite having a high amount of myrcene. I think the CBD counters the sedation, at least for me it did.

Final Thoughts

My biggest issue with this cultivar is the price. $12.50 a gram is a lot for medical and CBD types don’t require different treatment when growing. If the price was slightly lower it would be one of my top picks when wanting a CBD cultivar. Aside from the price, a great job was done here.

Cannabis Review: White Widow by Supreme via CannMart

Packaged For 7 Months And Still Decent

This cannabis flower is from the Supreme Cannabis Company, and grown by the people over at 7ACRES, which is a licensed producer out in Kincardine, Ontario and was purchased from CannMart, a 3rd party provider of licensed produced cannabis in Canada.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

The label on the container showed a value of 10.591% THC and 0.036% CBD.

Myrcene was the main terpene here with a value of 0.230%. Limonene (0.123%) and Caryophyllene (0.109%) were worth noting. Others were listed as well with a value below 0.025%.

Price, Shipping and Pack Dates

I purchased 3.55 grams from CannMart at the cost of $10 per gram plus taxes. The cost of shipping was free with Canada Post since my order was over $100, otherwise it would’ve been $9 flat.

The package date on the container was noted April 23rd 2019 and was ordered on November 11. I began reviewing this on November 28, which means the product was packaged for 220 days before being opened.

Smell and Appearance

Despite being over seven months old there was still a strong smell after opening the container. Strong earths and lemon were noticed, and a slight pine when grinded.

The buds were mostly dense and chunky, some smaller ones were there as well. Visible break offs were noticed around the rim and sides of the white plastic container, some light greens and yellows. Moisture content wasn’t the best, slightly dry and required the use of the provided Boveda pack.

Consumption and Taste

Using the Mighty vaporizer with the capsule doses I used about 0.25 grams of flower and found 180 to 185 Celsius (356 to 365 Fahrenheit) the best temperature to use for about eight minutes.

I rolled a gram joint to see how it burned and found grey ash on the lighter side was produced, smoke being smooth to inhale and didn’t require any relighting. I still preferred to use this in the vape.

Subjective Effects

One session using 0.25 grams was okay that provided moderate pain relief. Back to back sessions I had a heavy head, felt tired, and a bit anxious. I’ve always felt this way with White Widow for some reason which had similar terpene profiles. Dry was a common annoyance when consuming more than half a gram, any less wasn’t an issue. Duration of effects was around 90 minutes and preferred use was at nightime.

Final Thoughts

The age of the product held its quality fairly well, however at the cost of $10 per gram I’d rather take a gamble and buy from my local shop where 7ACRES flower would likely be fresher. I also wouldn’t buy it again as the effects weren’t ideal for me but it may be great for others.

Cannabis Review: Opium by Agro Greens via CannMart

A Mean Looking Bud

This cannabis flower is from Agro Greens, a licensed producer out in Macklin, Saskatchewan and was purchased from CannMart which is a 3rd party provider of licensed produced cannabis in Canada.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

The label on the container showed a value of 19.5% THC and zero CBD.

On the Agro Greens website they have listed the terpenes in this cultivar, Myrcene had a value of 0.754% and was the leading dominant terpene. Bisabolol was a mere 0.188%, Humulene 0.115%, Guaiol 0.113% and a very small amount of Limonene at 0.036%.

Price, Shipping and Pack Dates

I purchased 5 grams from CannMart at the cost of $13.99 per gram plus taxes. The cost of shipping was free with Canada Post since my order was over $100, otherwise it would’ve been $9 flat.

The package date on the container was noted July 17th 2019 and was ordered on November 11. I began reviewing this on November 22, which means the product was packaged for 129 days before being opened.

Smell and Appearance

Upon opening the container I could smell an earthy pine scent with hints of lemon. Inside the container was a small four gram Boveda pack which likely kept this product fresh over the short time it was packaged. Reason why I say that is because my luck with these large round containers usually dry out the buds fairly quickly as you’ll see in my other CannMart reviews.

The buds looked decent and averaged of a medium size, had a good spongy feel to them and perfectly balanced moisture. A golden shade with light greens were noticed, and up close and magnified showed a ton of trichomes covering the bud. Lots of dark orange pistils poking about, however small amounts of leaves were left intact and noticeable stems.

Consumption and Taste

I used my Mighty vaporizer in the temperature range of 170 to 190 Celsius (338F to 374F). Eight minute sessions were typical at lower temperatures, and on the higher end six to seven minutes sessions using 0.25 grams of cannabis. In joint form it burned grey but the ash was on the lighter side. The smoke was smooth and I really enjoyed, but as usual I preferred consuming in the vaporizer.

Subjective Effects

Upbeat, positive feelings with moderate pain relief and a noticeable head high. I didn’t feel tired by any means despite the high amount of myrcene and was able to maintain a conversation and staying productive.

Common negatives were increased hunger and dry mouth but easily remedied . I preferred using this in the afternoon or evening and found the duration of effects lasted around 90 minutes.

Final Thoughts

I would buy this again but it was expensive and will prevent me from buying it again as I found cheaper alternatives. Overall, a great choice to mellow out and relax while getting things done.
