Cannabis: Terpedo GE by JWC

Extremely Terpy!

If you haven’t smelled strong terpenes from cannabis before, Terpedo GE by James E. Wagner (JWC) will change that by filling the room with a sweet lemongrass scent.

Potency

As much as I want to say this is average on the potency scale, and yes it may be assumed because the THC value was only 13.16%, however this nearly toppled me over with its rich terpene content.

My most recent order was September 3 2019, when I received my order a few days later, I saw that the package date was noted September 4th 2019.

Price and Shipping

Exact same wording is used from my last review on this section, as the price varies from $8.67 to $11 per gram on amounts bought, I paid $11 a gram plus tax since I bought 5 grams. Shipping was free with Canada Post or Purolator as my total order was over $150, otherwise it would’ve been $10 flat.

Smell and Appearance

An intense smell of pine and lemongrass was apparent after taking the foil seal off, visually these flowers are immaculate, perfectly trimmed and showing off its healthy looking trichomes, light green with many orange pistils, and the odd purple.

The buds were sorta dense, slightly airy but had good give when squished. There were about nine medium size buds making up the five grams, no humidity pack was needed to restore freshness.

Consumption Methods

When my vape was set to 185C (365F) I would get about eight minutes out of my session, this was my ideal temperature as it would boil the majority of the terpenes and cannabinoids. I did try higher temperatures with my water adapter from 190 to 200C (374 to 392F), session was reduced to around six to seven minutes.

Effects

I felt content as I melted into my seat, but still had some energy and at the same time it provided great pain relief. However, I found I was sorta restless each time after consuming this cultivar, I even vaped at a lower temperature than 185C (365F) to see if the terpene terpinolene was to blame, and found it wasn’t as bad. Slight dry eyes were also common after use. Duration of effects lasted 90 to 120 minutes.

Remember when reading reviews that detail effects, that these are subjective and every person may have different outcomes.

Terpenes

Terpinolene (27.27%) and Pinene (26.20%) were the main contending dominant terpenes, Myrcene (17.19%) is worthwhile to note, and there were a variety of others under 10%.

Recommendation

This may be great cultivar to those seeking pain relief, but advising caution as I found it made me feel restless, and is the only reason why I won’t buy again. Overall, this is high quality cannabis and you can see the care that went into it.

Cannabis: Galiano (Northern Lights Haze) by Broken Coast

Fresher than the last Galiano, but different

I previously reviewed Galiano (Northern Lights Haze) at the end of June 2019 when I was with the Cannabis by Shoppers medical program, this was fresher than the eighth month old product I tried from them. Let’s take a look at this purchase that was directly from Broken Coast.

Potency

Rated slightly higher than my previous purchase, this container had flower tested at 19.9% THC and negligible amounts of CBD at 0.04%

On the label the package date was shown as April 29th 2019, this was reviewed on July 27th, a mere three months this container was sealed before I got to opening it.

Price and Shipping

The cost per gram was $10.30 plus tax, with shipping being free as my total order was over $150, otherwise it would’ve been $5 flat with Canada Post or $15 with Purolator.

Smell and Appearance

Citrus earthy aromas were easily pronounced with a slight gas notes, much different than what I tried before. I didn’t favour the smell too much, my friend said it smelled of carpet underpadding. The texture was spongy and had a good squish to it which rendered back to its original form after compressing. No moisture pack was needed as these flowers were properly stored and sealed.

Out of the five gram container there were two massively large buds, beautiful dark greens with rampant amounts of brown pistils visibly shown. Trichomes are glittering and the heads of the trichomes look perfect, noting it was harvested correctly.

Consumption Methods

Was able to use higher temperatures with my vaporizer than usual but still preferred 180C (356F) on the vape as most terpenes boil off around that temperature anyways. I found vaping at 195-210C (383-410F) was best for the first four to five minutes of the session, then dropping it down around 175C (347F) if wanting to use high temperatures.

Rolled into a joint it burned great, very smoky and white ash was produced, unlike my last order of Galiano. I preferred this rolled up and smoked which is rare for me.

Effects

Started off with a noticeable head high, and then leading to an energized, happy and creative effect. Dealing with chronic joint and muscle pain daily is never great, and found this helped moderately with the pain. While dry mouth is often a common effect with cannabis use, it was more pronounced with this cultivar. At higher doses slight euphoria was common

This was best to consume during the morning or afternoon, duration of effects lasted around 90 to 120 minutes.

Terpenes

Two almost equally dominant terpenes were Myrcene (0.34%) and Limonene (0.30%). Caryophyllene was fairly high (0.26%), Pinene and a low amount of Terpineol were also present.

Recommendation

This is perfect for someone who wants to get up and get the day going. I wouldn’t buy this again as I didn’t like the taste, and some have advised it likely wasn’t properly flushed before harvesting. I noticed this was almost completely different than my initial Galiano order in June, this is a hit or miss situation with Broken Coast I’ve heard from others and expect better consistency for future grows.

At least it wasn’t’ eight months old…

Cannabis: Ruxton (Sour OG) by Broken Coast

High quality despite over 125 days since packaged

Ruxton (Sour OG) is a cross of Sour Diesel and OG Kush, a great daytime cultivar.

Potency

This cultivar by Broken Coast had a value of 22.8% THC which is considered high on the potency scale for dried flower, while miniscule amounts of CBD had a value of <0.05%.

For those tracking package dates, March 7 2019 was printed on the label and was purchased directly from Broken Coast in early July. I’ve been a bit busy this summer with other reviews and didn’t opened and review this product until August 4th, which leaves this product sitting in the container for 150 days before consuming.

Price and Shipping

The cost per gram was $11.60 plus tax, there were no discounts on amounts bought and would welcome to see that. Shipping was free as my total order was over $150, otherwise it would’ve been $5 flat.

Smell and Appearance

Of the five grams I ordered, I was concerned about the date of the product as my past experience with aged flower usually doesn’t turn out great, thankfully this flower had perfect moisture and no humidity pack was needed to freshen it up. The three big buds were sticky and emitting a lemon and piney aroma with hints of fuel.

Consumption Methods

Vaping at 176C (349F) was the best temperature I found, this boils most of the terpenes and cannabinoids with no coughing being exhibited, great amounts of vapour were also produced at this temperature.

I had no issue vaping up to 185C (365F) as well but flavour wasn’t as optimal. Duration of each session was around seven to eight minutes per capsule with my Mighty.

In joint form, I smoked a gram rolled up and it produced smooth smoke and nice white ash. I found the effects stronger when vaping 0.4 grams compared to a full gram smoked.

Effects

Energized, creative and with a late body stone feeling near the end. Too much consumed in a short time frame may produce restlessness. Pain relief was good with the joint pains I deal with.

This was best to consume during the day and the duration of effects lasted around 90 to 120 minutes.

Terpenes

Myrcene was the dominant terpene at 0.83%, which is quite high and may explain the body stone feeling. Caryophyllene was further behind at 0.48%, Limonene 0.33% and much lower amounts of a few others below 0.10%.

Recommendation

Many will enjoy this for daytime use but will note that a few hits of this might be too strong for some. This was a worthwhile product and one I’ll be purchasing again in the future as it was effective for my needs.

Cannabis: Texada (Super Lemon Haze) by Broken Coast

When 20 minutes feels like an hour

Texada (Super Lemon Haze) is the third product I’ve reviewed that was grown by Broken Coast, while this is my first direct medical purchase from them. This licensed producer is based in Duncan, British Columbia and provides products for the medical and retail market.

Potency

The listed amount of THC on the bottle had a value of 14.5% with zero percent CBD, which is average on the potency scale, despite this average number and in my experience, a properly grown plant will yield greater effects than a poorly grown plant at a higher value of THC.

The container label listed the package date as May 30 2019 and I began reviewing this on July 24 2019.

Price

This was bought directly from Broken Coast since I’m a registered medical patient of theirs and I purchased five grams of this cultivar at the cost of $10.04 per gram plus tax. Shipping was free as my total order was over $150, otherwise it would’ve been $5 flat.

Appearance and Smell

Out of the container I noticed two large light green buds with some purple leaves covered in a thick amount of trichomes with light brown pistils poking out, and the moisture is balanced perfectly which didn’t require a humidity pack after opening. The buds were dense and one was 3.08 grams in weight, while the other was around two grams.

The cultivars name doesn’t disappoint on the aromas, a clear sweet lemon is noticed and when consumed in a vaporizer, it reminded me of those lemonhead candies.

Consumption Methods

With the Mighty vaporizer, I found the most enjoyable temperatures were around 170C to 180C (338-356F), although I did attempt higher temperatures I found I could only handle three to four minutes before the vapour was too hot. My session length at preferred temperatures lasted around seven to eight minutes which produced lots of vapour and will boil most of the terpenes and cannabinoids.

Oddly when smoked in joint form (1 gram) I didn’t feel as the effects as much as 0.4 grams vaporized, keep in mind this will vary person to person. The smoke was smooth and burned nicely, required no relighting and produced white ash.

Effects

Daytime use is advised for this particular energizing product as it may keep you up at night. Doses at 0.2 grams were adequate as I felt relaxed, great for social settings and for sparking creativity.

When vaping 0.4 grams it gave intense feelings and found twenty minutes felt like an hour, it was best to stay at home and just relax. Anyone with ongoing anxiety might want to stay clear of this one. Duration of effects lasted around 90 minutes to two hours.

Terpenes

Listed on the Broken Coast website, Caryophyllene was the dominant terpene at 0.28%, Terpineol and Limonene were equal at 0.06%, with Pinene and Myrcene just below that.

Recommendation

If you want something to get energized and awake, try this before it’s gone. I was advised by email that Texada was being discontinued once stock is depleted. Many are unsure why this is happening as it’s a common favourite among others I know in the community and has become a new favourite of mine as well.
