RED WINE AND ZIPPED OFF TRICHOMES
This review is part of a larger write up on various Shishkaberry grows I evaluated called, Battle of the Shishkaberry. This is my first review of a WeedMD product that was evaluated on February 4th 2020. WeedMD is a medical cannabis provider based in Strathroy and Aylmer, ON and also sells under the Color Cannabis and Saturday brand on the retail side.
Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes
THC content was 15.86% and a minimal amount of CBD at 0.03% as noted on the container.
According to the WeedMD medical website their Shishkaberry was dominant in Pinene with a potential value of 0.189%. Caryophyllene was not far behind with 0.166% and Nerolidol at 0.088%, other terpenes were listed at lower values.
Price, Shipping and Pack Dates
The price was $8 per gram plus taxes on the WeedMD medical webstore for the 5 gram container. Shipping was free with Canada Post as my total order was over $99, otherwise it would’ve been $15.74.
This was packed on October 3rd 2019 and was purchased January 26th 2020. I opened the container on February 4th which means this was packaged for 125 days before reviewing.
Smell, Taste and Appearance
Berry and earthy aromas were noticed, much like every Shishkaberry I tried so far and this one emitted the nice red wine smell. Taste in the vape was similar to the way it smelled with a kick of sour to it.
Appearances showed a variety of bud sizes, some were about 0.75 grams, while the rest were about half a gram and a few small buds. The flower was a bit dry and needed the use of a humidity pack at my expense. Overall it looked nice but under the macro lens you could clearly see the trichome heads zipped off and only left with the stalks.
With every review I’ve ever done I try a minimum of six temperatures and see how long each session lasts. This may vary by each device and the one used here was the Mighty vaporizer.
180 degrees celsius (365F) was the best with each session lasting about eight minutes using around 0.25 grams of cannabis. Other temperatures were fine but at 185C and above the vapour flavour quickly began to fade and wasn’t tolerable for longer than six minutes.
170C (338F) – 8 minutes – Low vapour
175C (347F) – 8 minutes
180C (356F) – 8 minutes – Best
185C (365F) – 7 minutes
190C (374F) – 6 minutes
195C (383F) – 6 minutes
Rolled into a gram and smoked as a joint I found the ash was grey, a middle ground of salt and pepper. The smoke was smooth and required no relighting.
Pain relief is my main reason for using cannabis, I found the relief was mild in my joints and muscles. Feelings of a slightly heavy upper body were noticeable like other Shishkaberry grows I’ve tried and at times it was hard to concentrate, after a few days of use this was less of an issue thankfully. I found this was best used in the evening, for those with long term experience with cannabis anytime would be fine.
Dry eyes were common when used multiple times per day, and when used in my first session of the day this wasn’t noticed. For some the increased appetite may be of value or an annoyance, be sure to have a snack on hand, I’ve noticed it as a common occurrence with pinene dominant cultivars. Duration of effects lasted 90 to 120 minutes.
At the price point of $8 a gram with WeedMD as a direct medical patient of theirs I found it a bit high for the average quality, it was more around the $6 mark and currently sells for less on the Ontario Cannabis Store for $5.70 a gram. I did enjoy it and would buy it again if no other options were available, but it won’t be my first choice for a Shishkaberry at this price point.
Thanks for reading!
