Cannabis Review: Shishkaberry by Color Cannabis

4 MIN READING TIME

QUESTIONABLE QUALITY

This review is part of a larger write up on various Shishkaberry grows I evaluated called, Battle of the Shishkaberry. This is my first review of a Color Cannabis product that was evaluated on March 12th 2020, however this is grown by WeedMD and would technically be my second review on them. WeedMD is a licensed producer of cannabis based in Strathroy and Aylmer, ON and also sells under the Saturday brand on the retail side.

Cannabinoid Content and Terpenes

THC content was 12.28% and a minimal amount of CBD at 0.02% as noted on the container.

Terpene content off the Ontario Cannabis Store was minimal but further digging on the growers website WeedMD showed their Shishkaberry was dominant in Pinene with a potential value of 0.189%. Caryophyllene was not far behind with 0.166% and Nerolidol at 0.088%, other terpenes were listed at lower values.

Price, Shipping and Pack Dates

The price was $5.70 per gram on the Ontario Cannabis Store website for a container with 3.5 grams. Shipping was $5 plus taxes with Canada Post. This was much cheaper compared to the growers medical website at the time when I bought this on WeedMD’s that goes for $8 per gram plus tax in Ontario.

This was packed on September 11th 2019 and was purchased February 29th 2020. I opened the container on March 14th which means this was packaged for 186 days.

Smell, Taste and Appearance

Classic Shishkaberry smell of berry and earths were noticed along with that nice red wine smell. Taste in the vape was similar to the way it smelled with a kick of sour to it.

Appearances showed a variety of bud sizes, the largest was around a gram and some under half a gram and a couple at 0.1 grams! The flower was a bit dry and required the use of a humidity pack, you can see in the video the amount of trichome dusting that happened from bouncing around in the jar. There were concerning white spots on the flower in parts and under the macro lens you can see white matter and above it pale green bud which was soft to touch with a metal tip. Trichome heads were slightly visible and amber looking, however most were zipped off.

Consumption Methods

With every review I’ve ever done I try a minimum of six temperatures and see how long each session lasts. This may vary by each device and the one used here was the Mighty vaporizer.

180 degrees celsius (365F) was the best with each session lasting about eight minutes using around 0.25 grams of cannabis. Other temperatures were fine but at 185C and above the vapour flavour quickly began to fade and wasn’t tolerable for longer than six minutes.

170C (338F) – 8 minutes – Low vapour
175C (347F) – 8 minutes
180C (356F) – 8 minutes – Best
185C (365F) – 7 minutes
190C (374F) – 6 minutes
195C (383F) – 6 minutes

Rolled into a gram and smoked as a joint I found the ash was grey, a middle ground of salt and pepper. The smoke was smooth and required no relighting. Just like my WeedMD medical review of Shishkaberry.

Subjective Effects

Pain relief is my main reason for using cannabis, I found the relief was mild in my joints and muscles. Feelings of a slightly heavy upper body were noticeable like other Shishkaberry grows I’ve tried and at times it was hard to concentrate, after a few days of use this was less of an issue thankfully. I found this was best used in the evening, for those with long term experience with cannabis anytime would be fine.

Dry eyes were common when used multiple times per day, and when used in my first session of the day this wasn’t noticed. For some the increased appetite may be of value or an annoyance, be sure to have a snack on hand, I’ve noticed it as a common occurrence with pinene dominant cultivars. Duration of effects lasted 90 to 120 minutes.

Final Thoughts

At the price of $5.70 a gram after taxes I had to compare it to my medical experience with the same grower which was more pleasant and didn’t exhibit those questionable white spots on the Shishkaberry I ordered, but cost was $2.30 a gram extra for medical at the time of this writing. While package dates aren’t harvest dates this was 62 days older than my medical order. My guess the price was cheaper due to the age as it was nearing 6 months old at the time of purchase. In the end it did provide relief, I’m just happy this one didn’t make me feel sick after use.
